Jittery Ride

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a Z4 Coupe and managed to drive my first one over the weekend, but needed some advice. I found the front to be very vague and jittery - constantly needing my input to keep it on the straight. I know the weather wasn't the best over the weekend, so I am hoping to go back when it brightens up but I am dubious. Is this normal or just a bad example?

If its still got run flat tyres that won't help.
Also try it with the sport button pressed. Mines much better
 
Sport button only changes the steering weight not the suspension.

Car feels quite planted except on very bumpy roads in my car, but is improved now I've dumped the Run-flats. Getting the tyre pressures right helps a lot as well, mine was very twitchy after I bought it and found the pressures were quite low, great BMW dealer service. :roll:
 
I love mine I have 19" RFTs and they need changing. On fast twisty roads that undulate it can be a handful. I can't wait to change my rubber and bushes mind you. The general feeling is in my mind a planted good handling car. It just needs some tweaks.....
 
I had to change the wheels, tyres, springs and bushes to correct the jitters - fingers crossed after this mornings geo and tracking it will be sorted!
 
Hmmmm perhaps it's not the car for me then. The dealer is bringing the car to me so I can have a drive in my lunch, hopefully the roads will stay dry and I can get a real feel for it. :D
 
Runflats, especially when they are worn and near needing replacement are very prone to tramlining.
It can feel as though someones grabbed the wheel and given it a tug, especially where trucks have worn ruts in the road & the councils not bothered to resurface (can feel a rant coming on!)
Changing to non-runflats will help cure this & they are considerably cheaper too.

If the front wishbone bushes are worn, this too will exacerbate the problem.
Relatively cheap & easy to fix.

Enjoy your drive, listen to the roar of that sublime engine and the push in the back.
