Jerky, sputtery cruising..

Ever since I got the Z4MR about 6-7 months ago, I 've noticed when driving on the highway at ~75mph in 6th and slowing down to ~50 (still in 6th, costant ~1800 rpm) the engine would stutter for a second.

Now it got worse, but only after I start pushing it a lot: so if I go all the way in 2nd, 3rd, redline it a few more times and as soon as I quiet/slow down, the engine cannot maintain constant speed, sputtering/misfiring for about hallf a minute.

Took it to the first dealer (Murketts): they scanned the computer but found no engine errors, but found errors on the DSC hydraulic unit and replaced it, but that didn't change anything...

Took it to a second dealer, turned out a cable loom in the engine bay has been rubbing against something which caused some of the wires to get shorted; one blown fuse and a secondary air pump changed... couldn't get more out of the dealer as we were both in a hurry at the end of the day..

I couldn't replicate the symptoms any more so I asumed the problem was fixed... until last weekend when it started doing it again... drives me nuts. Couldn't see any cables rubbing anywhere, all fuses ok...

Has anyone had the same issue before? Possible solutions?

Check the other thread: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19810 recently on the same issue. Most likely the o2 sensor or dodgy fuel... Which fuel do you use?

To be honest I don't think that thread covers the same issue that the OP describes.

I've just filled up with Vpower, can the petrol supplier make that much difference? Thought Vpower would be the best....costs enough.

So therefore not an /M... different engine.

See if continues and stick with the same fuel.. if it's consistent it should throw up a fault code.
