JDM/E89 appreciation thread

Nice to hear from you JDM

If it doesn't work out, you know the answer. ///Mmmmmmmmmm :D

J my new one is still as trouble free -so far - as previous one.
Saying that it's not rained yet, had the roof down every journey

The problem E89's are way in the minority. It's a shame they are getting a bad rep on here because they don't deserve it. People don't come on and say 'no problems with my E89' but they come on to get advice or vent when there is.

It's difficult when you've had constant problems with a car but those that have, their exception isn't the rule.

Like me, some of your problems have been caused by your dealer. :headbang:
Hope it's sorted at last when you get it back and hope its this weekend.

Fairly typical of most things on the internet unfortunately. Whenever I read reviews for anything I'm planning on buying you tend to find happy people just get on with things and don't take time out to praise something, where as unhappy people will vent their spleen in any way they can. I know I've done it myself - ripping into Eastern BMW Edinburgh on here and pistonheads (yes google-bot, pick up that linky linky for your search results :D )

Back to E89's, it's a real shame and I feel sorry for your guy's who've had E85/86's (and fantastic ones that gave you so much pleasure) then shelled out a serious amount of cash into a new BMW only to be left with a car you're not happy with. In fact never mind the E85, feel sorry for anyone who's spent that much on a new car and had the occasion ruined by crap attitudes at the dealers like in your case Carol.

Brand loyalty just seems to be something for big companies to take advantage of these days.

I think problems with the E89 have been very few and far between and personally a big step forward over the old model in every dep't.

Remember the old Z4 had its fair share, broken springs, waterlogged roof pumps, rattles etc to name a few. Its swings and roundabouts.

John if your Zed is fixed enjoy it otherwise like others have done successfully get it replaced

Tim.

John...mine was in the stealer for a total of 44 days, spread over 6 visits before they agreed to replace it.

What have they done in that 5 weeks? Are they awaiting parts?

Generally internet forums are full of people slagging things off, and my dealer tried to use that to get out of some of my comparisons to my case and others, but in fact, regarding the leaking roof, the majority of people on here have indicated they havent had any leaks, which is good.

If I have a problem I'll ask on the forum to guage how common it is....if loads of people have it, then it could sometimes be considered "normal" but if no one else has it, then its a fault.

I think BMW are clever in that the people that make the decisions over replacement cars are hidden away from the customer, you cant talk to them personally.

On another note I love that Walnut JDM
Might need to speak to dealer about redoing my white(well black now) interior free

If I did get another e89, Melbourne red with walnut would be top of my list

Both e89s I have had have been trouble free luckily
I have nearly run the new one in now
It would be nice to hear if anyone elses cars are trouble free or have i just been lucky

Mine is great just two new rear alloys and both rear lights replaced twice. Nothing serious jus the drivers seat getting marked by seatbelt badly.

Mines quite good apart from the off creak from the roof when up, and the odd rattle from trim around the temp controls when the roof is down so no rattle free driving for me
