JCT600 BMW Bradford/Leeds (formerly Lister Park)

Seeing as Scotthall has had a slating on here and elsewhere, I thought I'd post a couple of positive experiences with JCT600 in Bradford. Although they managed to lose me the first Z4M I tried to buy (they convinced me to try to buy it through them from another dealer but someone else had it in the meantime) I decided to trust them with my car when I managed to get one from elsewhere.

First visit was for a stuck headlamp washer (which was also leaking wash all over the garage) which was repaired fairly quickly under the warranty - I say fairly because it had to go back for parts after an initial diagnostic visit but I gather this is fairly standard for warranty work.

Second visit was today for an irritating dashboard rattle which has been infuriating me for the last two months (and I've had the air vents/sat nav/radio out looking for it). When I arrived one of the managers was quickly out with me to have a listen, and I've returned to a blissfully silent car (engine excepted, obviously). They've also offered to replace the 3rd brake light under warranty (it has developed the springs-too-tight crack) so it's going back in for that and to renew the brake fluid - I wasn't aware it needed doing except as part of a service.

So, generally fairly happy with them. Only downside was their reaction when I mentioned internet forums (specifically in terms of chatting about rear springs) - "One person gets a puncture and puts it on the internet, so everyone reads and thinks their car is prone to punctures". Luckily mine are OK for the moment!

Tis pretty true though... a good 50% of people on forums are car hypochondriacs :D

I've had a few cars with JCT600 plates on (ie, the people I bought off had bought from them), and they have always been good cars. They tend to be known as expensive, BUT, they are selling the best examples of cars too, which is no bad thing imho! (this is the one just down from the airport on the roundabout?)

hmm, it irritates me when they come back with that whole issue about forums.... I had a TT and they WERE prone to coil pack failure (even made watchdog!)... now I have a Z4 and they ARE prone to spring failures. It is not in my imagination it is fact. Most people who dont use forums probably just think they were unfortunate, its only when you dig deeper in the forums that you see the truth.

One of the benefits of having a 'niche' car is that the limited numbers made means that any problems reported can quickly be analysed to give a robust trend.

If you have 100 spring failures out of 1000 cars then there is a problem - and that's even if you allow for no other non-forum reports.

Whereas if you report 100 sping failures on a Ford Fiesta then you can't get any meaningful data out of that due to millions being produced and the amount of failures being statistically irrelevant.

There's a JCT600 there (not sure which marque) but this is their (only?) BMW dealership which is on the Bradford ringroad on the Leeds side.

I see what he meant about forums but you don't have to hang here for very long to pick up that rear springs and o2 sensors are a potential issue. However, so long as their views on forums don't stop them taking a look at things when they need checking (and they don't seem to have a problem there - eg the 3rd brake light) I'll happily take my car back in the future.
