Jazzed-up wheels on the ///M

Ever since I bought my Interlagos Z4MR, the one thing I've always been unsure about is the wheels - so I'm thinking about doing something to them.

I've seen lots of pictures of CSL's on the coupe but not on the roadster, however, I think I'm favouring getting the existing wheels coated black/grey/ or chrome (in order of preference).

So the question is, has anyone got any pictures of either non-OEM wheels on an ///MR, or OEM colour-coated, is there an existing 'show your ///M wheels off' thread? Even better, has anyone had the OEM wheels coated black?

Here's a pic of my roadster at Le Mans with a coating of brake dust giving it an almost chrome look (helped by a poor lense distorting the light a little)

Or can anyone handy with photoshop, black-up my wheels?

I had the same thoughts but ended up going with CSLs. At the end of the day the standard M wheels just don't work for me...too much rubber. Not old enough to notice any difference in ride comfort on the 19s (unlike some people on here :poke: )

See these pics for an idea:

I'm pretty sure there's a thread with some other examples somewhere. Interlagos and black wheels has definitely been done before. Can't go wrong with CSLs though 8)

Ooh liking both of those looks...

As much as I love the look of CSL, those ///M alloys in gunmetal on a black Z4 look damn good

Unconvinced about them on blue though...

I felt exactly the same about the OEM wheels - too much rubber - so I have just gone for some 19" E46 M3 wheels.

This isn't my car but looks pretty much like this:

Another roadster with CSL's...

Ive got the M wheels but with low profile tyres and they do look much better with less rubber round them.

Im not sure about blue cars with dark wheels :|

I do like the CSLs on the M.
Mine are done in flash chrome!

Even though anthracite or black is way more practical, I wouldn't go for black alloys on a darker color car like you have. You'll loose all contrast. One way to solve that would be to add wheel rim tape and there are some nice examples of those around...

Dark anthracite M alloys, painted by Lepsons. Not sure if you can PhotoShop them onto your car.

As mentioned above, I do think contrast is important.

Is it me, but I think that 19in wheels look just a little to big on the roadster. Could 18in be the perfect compromise?

Any photos?

I've seen pictures of a lighter blue with black wheels (on a coupe) which I think looks great... I think it will contrast well with the black roof - anyway, if I get it done I'll post photos for comment...

IMO there any no better looking wheels for the Z4M than the CSL's...bias perhaps, but true.

CSLs look much better on the coupe but I don't think they look so good on the roadster. If I had a coupe I would def have CSLs but I still can't decide if it is worth the money on the roadster. I think it's good to see people trying different finishes on the CSLs ad the stock rims. Be a boring world if we all wanted the same!

They're stunning. How much do the 19's effect the ride comfort?

Ta :) To be honest I don't notice any difference whatsoever in ride comfort, but then again I'm not that good at picking up subtle differences in handling and the like!

I'll post some more pics when I get the chance to give it a wash.

As far as 19s go they were reasonably priced as well - £500 for a set off ebay (no tyres).
