Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a fantastic time over the festive period and I hope you are all off to a good start to 2008.
First of all I want to thank all those who donated to the forum, it is as always a great help and it is testament to the fine membership we have here. Thanks guys!
We have been here 8 months now and have experienced steady growth, both in terms of traffic and the valuable content of the forum. I look in the forums now and am very pleased to see rich content in a very similar vein to the old z4um. In little over half a year we have developed both a community spirit and a great resource for Z4 owners new and old.
The gallery competitions have been as popular as ever and the quality of the entries have been truly outstanding. I would like to thank all those who entered, it's great to see our cars represented in so many varied ways. I would also like to thank WLH for standing in for me looking after the gallery competitions while I have been away!
In terms of where we want to be we are ahead of expectations and getting new members every day. It helps that we have risen through the google rankings over recent months and I hope to continue this trend. If any of you have relevant websites then please do LINK US as this is a great way of increasing the value of the forum in the eyes of the search engines.
Some of you who have been here a while will have seen the addition of a small banner at the top of the page (Tirerack in the USA, UK owners will see Insurance). Feedback from these has been encouraging. I wanted something small and not so "in your face" and I think it worked. I have had many positive comments (mainly thanks for not having crazy flashing banners... I hear ya!) and it is great that some of you have already used the click-throughs to make purchases. Although our "kick back" is relatively small every little helps, believe me!
I would like to thank the moderator team for a fantastic job so far. I am very happy to say that 8 months on we have not had need to ban ANYONE. It may sound an odd thing to say but I am very proud of that fact. Some of you will remember the politics on the old z4um site and largely we have avoided that here. The forum has largely been self-moderating and I am sure I speak for all the moderators in thanking you all for making our lives easier.
One last thing, we have a forum software update in the pipeline. This will require a SMALL amount of down-time but a few things "may" break in the process so please be patient. If it comes back minus things like "quick reply" please bear with us, we WILL fix it
So, onward and upward for 2008. I have a few things in mind over the coming months. I won't make any announcements just yet as I haven't got things in place yet, but it's all good, believe me!
