Jaguar F Type

Have just come back form an awesome test drive in a 3.0 V6s, its a fantastic car but at 67k for a base model where even a mirror in the sun visor is an extra I think I will stick to the Z4

I've just come back from test driving the V6S, makes a fantastic noise (demo car had optional sports exhaust) but didn't feel any faster than my sDrive35i

It's a much smoother ride than mine on M-Sport suspension - an enjoyable drive. Not convinced with the interior though. Controls feel a bit 'jumbo' sized & its a bit bling with the gold detailing for my liking.

Also, the boot-space looks woeful! Makes the Z look cavernous.

Got back in my Z & had spirited drive home using the paddles which I rarely do: and still feel very happy in the Z compared with the F type. Only thing I missed from the F was the exhaust sound!

You can probably get a Sports exhaust for less than £67K :D

V6's do sound nice though. My old Modeo used to sound fantastic when the exhaust was blowing a bit.

Yes. I had a Tiburon V6, slow but made one hell of a noise.

The only thing I don't like about the new Jag is the weight (at least on paper):
1,597 kg (3,520 lb) F-Type
1,614 kg (3,560 lb) F-Type S
1,665 kg (3,670 lb) F-Type V8

What a porker! :slaphead:

Haha - yes, maybe I'll think about the milltec at some point: anyone done it: is it worth it aurally or for performance - or both?

Took the V6S out too at the weekend. Aided and abetted by a Jaguar works driver let's just say it was a good experience s both driver and passenger. The active exhaust with manual overide to open it or in sport mode is highly addictive. Makes Zeds sounds just too tame.

Agree re the small gold details - very odd. Interior is to die for though compared with Zeds.

I should hope so at £22k dearer than the most expensive Zed (which has identical performance from what I can see).

Remember that old football song sung by disgruntled fans at the Chairman "where's the money gone".

I know - we've chatted about this. At £100k the v8 seems crazy, but the next 12 months are all being built to order.
Can't blame Jaguar for pricing to what the global market will pay...

I guess so. When you look at Porsche's sales breakdown they don't actually sell that many 911's. They just make a shed load of margin on them.

You have to admire Jag's marketing plan for the F-Type though. I just hope they all don't start copying it because this one, and the one for the 1M Coupe, irritated the hell out of me!!

You wouldn't believe how fussy JLR are being over the build of this car, but I suppose they have to.
Still no coupe pic been given to me yet tho. :x

So here's the first rendered images of the F Type from a patent document:

Looks good

One for you coupe boys - now out road testing.

Interesting the see the CX-16 concept came after the production car was designed.

Should mean we don't see a bland coupe after an exotic concept

Been reading lots of reviews on the F-Type & they have all been very complementary & it's a massive credit to jaguar I think...just a shame they will be out of reach for me for years yet & I would go for the coupe so an even longer wait! :driving:
