I know a couple of folks have moved onto one of these, so would be good to hear any thoughts on whether these have made faithful companions. The wife is keen to change the TTRS and these have dropped into sensible money now (from £32k) which makes them mighty attractive to me eye....and that noise is hilarious! What's the view on these then....for £35k-ish is this a better buy than a 981 S...?

Funnily enough i'm shopping for either a 981 or an Ftype. I'm after the V6 though. From what I've been reading there's considerably reliability issues compared to the 981.

I've been keeping a close eye on the 981 over the past 6 months and Ive recently seen a few S models dropping into my auto trader search with the max price set at £30k

We’ve got a TTRS but it’ll go in exchange for whatever we decide on. From what I can read, the V6S are the ones with the reliability issues and the V8 is a more bullet proof. I’ve never considered a jag before but it’s the looks of the coupe and that noise is so attractive.

I rented a V8 for 24 hours from Avis Prestige, quite simply the fasted and most entertaining car I've ever been in or driven, bags of character. Naturally, not the sportiest, but who cares when it looks and sounds that good.. Boxster is pretty bland in comparison, even if more competent on the back roads.

Really was an event to get into, start up and drive off. Felt very special, almost super car like.

Would like to try the V6S to compare...

I sold my 2014 981 Cayman and bought an F type V6 SC..

2 totally different cars,as you can imagine the Cayman is like a scalpel on the road, perfect balance and composure. Handling is neutral, much better than 911 of the same price point. Simply a great little car.

The F type is more of a GT car, even the 3.0 V6 doesnt have bags of rear grip,so the V8 must be hilarious...

Its a great car, has everything in that you would want and is suprisingly fast, much faster than the 981,the 8 speed box is lovely. It will do very close to 40 mpg on a run being very sensible... Tax and Insurance is cheap for me (£620 for both)...

Mine is a 64 plate with 22k miles, service is cheap alternating between £250 and £350.....

Im looking for a late M4 comp pack at the moment so will be selling mine imminently ..

Interesting, those M4 comp packs have come down rapidly in price and represent a real bargain right now. Would you stretch to the M4 CS, they are very special cars, lost £40k in less than 1k miles and make the incoming M2 CS look ridiculously priced.

I always want to get in the market for my set price

A comp pack M4 or even a bucket specced non Cp would do me

It’s sll about the numbers that you get in, then can get out later
