Would you drive a P1 if offered the chance?
Life's all about experiences isn't it?
Yes I agree life is about experiences, I've been invited to Millbrook next month to drive another brand that's an alternative to my 991 GT2 RS order, however no I couldn't be bothered to try a P1 and waste other people's time and effort- I'll only ever try cars that I can afford![]()
Very noble of you and fair enough, each to their own. Personally I don't think it is a waste of other people's time and effort. As Breaker alluded to brand awareness / profile raising is very important. The F-Type is the first truly covetable sports cars that Jag have produced for many years, getting them out of the road for people to admire and aspire to own can't be a bad thing for them. I saw a 4C around Guildford (on Italian plates) a few weeks ago and marveled at its road presence, it's now been shortlisted as a replacement for my Z4MC in the future.
Ferrari, despite have sold all examples of LaFerrari still held the press launch events knowing that they would benefit not from a sales point of view (none left to sell), but from a marketing perspective. Sometimes firms are happy to play the "long game" and consider the longer term benefits of their actions, even if they reap no immediate gains in the short term.
