Jacking up the e89...

Do I need one of these to jack up the e89 without damaging the bodywork? Or is there somewhere a standard jack cup can sit?

Actually thinking about this there must be somewhere safe to jack it up because the tyre places don't faff with adaptors?

I want to get a front wheel off this weekend to find a clicking noise on the brakes...

Doesn't it say in the manual where the safe jacking points are?

It mentions it for use with the block adaptor thing, but I'm wondering where I can just put the usual cup type jack without needing one of those adaptors?

If you look in the centre of the undertray, there is an aperture with a jacking point on the chassis above it.
You don't nee a block adapter, a decent lump of 4x2 will suffice
Even though I have a low rise trolley jack, the E89 is still too low to slide it under easily.
Get a couple of planks and drive on to them first to raise the nose an inch or two. Simples :D

Just be careful it doesn't fall off and damage the nose

My jack goes under no problem, and fits perfectly into the cups. The Cup is made of a dense Nylon type material and is a rectangular shape so two of the jack 'petals' fit inside, and two outside.

I didn't mean the side jacking points, I slide the jack straight in centre front to raise the car front to back
That leaves the side pockets free for the axle stands.

Haven't looked at the Z4, but on the 1'er you need something, as a standard jack can crush the plastic that the block fits into.

I bought an old e46 3 series jack and that works, but not sure if the z is the same.
