Jacking Up the Car?

I want to jack the car up to give it a good clean underneath, take the wheels off and clean under the arches, etc.

The jacking points on the car are little square plastic blocks. OK, assuming I cobble something together to get the car jacked up using the jacking points, I then want to place some axle stands under the car, for safety reasons, while I'm working on it.

Question is, where do I place the axle stands? The underside of the car is full of plastic covers, but I need to support the structure of the car.

Any help much appreciated.

Oh I'm spoilt and use a twin post lift on the 4 jacking points

However been working on the rear at home so let me offer my 2p worth on that end. I jack it right up on the centre point where the bracing ties join and then place axle stands directly on the black jack points.

Front I've only needed to do one side at a time so have whizzed it up onthe jack point and put an axle stand under the body just for security not to carry weight.

I think the TIS has some recommended points

i normally jack it up on the jacking point for wheel changes etc but for longer process jobs, i jack up on the bolt that holds the arm. can be found by 2 metal pieces going into one bolt. after that, i put the jack stands where the jack points are but be cautious as one of my black rubber pieces have fallen off on me so always have the jack still jacked up somewhere incase it drops
