Welcome to the forum?
Hope you enjoy your stay and that it helps you enjoy the daily running of your Z4.

Oh, hang on............

I see it failed the MOT with the Engine MIL illuminated.
Given the propensity for the N46 to flash this up at regular intervals as the cat starts to fail, could you please expand on how this issue was resolved? If just a reset than I suspect any buyer will soon see it come back on.

Hi - yes it was the cat converter. It was professionally cleaned at the garage in Northallerton. I’ve been using it and no further problems and the Eml light is off.

Good to know, thank you.
By 'professionally cleaned', you mean...........?
More than just a dose of cataclean?
I have an image in my head of a very small mouse with a chimney-sweep's brush disappearing up the exhaust pipe.

No small mouses here. It was taken off the car and cleaned with proper off car cleaner.
Are you interested or just trying to put people off please? Thanks

I didn’t do it the garage did. I can find out if you would like me to?
Are you actually interested or just being awkward please?

As you have joined simply to get a free advert I felt it only fair that potential issues should be highlighted. This is not eBay or fb so you are speaking to educated Z4 owners.
You should expect much more exacting questions from such an audience.
My next one being: why on earth would a garage take an 18 year old cat off a car, clean it and refit it rather than fit new?
Sounds more likely they’ve fed you a tale to empty your pockets?

I'd be curious about the cause of that oil leak too.

Might be worth listing the reasons why this is worth more than the many lower priced 2.0's with lower mileage on Autotrader.

I think it's somewhere around Stokesley in the North East, if anyone is interested....

Car presents well but you've only owned it since February and the trade value is £1,400 with a retail value of £2,200.

If you're trying to profiteer off the members of this forum I will have to report you to our director-in-chief @Pondy 🤣

Ah, but you've missed the point. This one is 'punchy'. Not sure if that means it goes well, or is just a dodgy colour and full of soggy fruit? ;)

Lot of unkowns with this one, I had my fair share of problems with the 2.0l I picked up last year, cracked manifold being the main issue, usual fight with exhaust downpipe bolts when I put a good manifold on. The cats are part of the manifold on the 2.0l, new are in excess of 1k thats why he went the cleaner route and I very much doubt his 'Garage' took it off, more likely a tin of cat cleaner added to the fuel tank.

My 2.0 was a disaster too - undiagnosed emissions problems that my local indie was not keen on dealing with. I think it was my first thread on here. I sold it on with faults described and no MOT at a loss of at least £2k in the space of 6 months. I think the new owner took about a year to get it through an MOT, not for the lack of trying.

I'm sure there are a lot of good 2.0's out there, but I wouldn't touch one with little service history and a fairly awful MOT history.
