I've Killed my Car!

Ouch! I am glad you are ok and you got all sorted. Actually I liked your driving style (except from the crash part obviously).

Seeing as Im an advanced driver and instructed professionally for over 13 years, I should have given instruction before he took my Ruby away! :poke:

how did you know I am 55
Did not, but I'm only slightly younger and it was upsetting to watch.

After watching the video quite a few times, apart from the f*$K.....hmmmmmm which is absolutely priceless and should probably go viral...
That, and of course the OP's accent when calling for the tow rope - but then others here will obviously find my accent just as amusing

The DSC won't let you do that if it's switch on - which is why I drive with it off :P
Looked like the OP was trying to get the tail out through the corner, but left it well too late and then tried a double bite at thrashing the throttle to get it to slide.
It did, but the OP took too long to catch it, and the road had already straightened, so the slide had nowhere to go.
I've done similar in Germany, but was fortunate enough for the car to fishtail back onto the road, rather than off. My passenger wasn't as quiet as the OP's though
Never mind, the car can be replaced, at least no-one was badly injured
+1 .. i do this a lot & sometimes it really bites you, if you havent got the space ur stuffed.

it's a stark reminder of how easy it is to put it into a tree, u seem to be taking better than i would

this would never have happened if your roof had been down... just so you'll know next time.

WHY... well obviously this made the centre of gravity higher, upset the balance of a car designed to be driven topless thus absolves you of any blame... lol

Wow, great vid Colin, at least she died doing what she was built to do :) Important thing is you were OK. Just looked as though you caught the gravel and dirt at the edge of the road at the wrong time when you needed firm tarmac to help you correct the car. The blame is clearly with the French for not keeping the road in good order

Unlucky dude, looks like you tried to get the back end to slide at the wrong time. All the weight was on the front and the throttle blip just completely put the car off balance.

Thanks for posting the video.

Only just managed to watch your vid, car sounded quite nice....gruppe M??..

Am i right in saying the car automatically rings bmw assist when you have such an off...? It's just that i can hear someone on the phone in the background saying ~hello....we just got a message from your BMW..... RTA~

Fair play to you for posting this up. I'm just pleased you're ok and have managed to source a perfect replacement.

I know you asked for no smart arsed comments but.....am I the only one who found the application of the hand brake at 0:44 to be laugh out loud funny?!

FWIW I reckon you backed off the throttle too much once the back started to go. Feathering the throttle will get it to snap back in line.

I'm assuming this was a DSC off situation?

Never mind OP, glad your OK.

One thing for sure, thousand of better drivers have crashed before you doing the same thing and you won't be the last.

Experts every where

Should have done X, Y and Z, that's what I'd have done

Glad you ok, and you have a replacement sorted. Must say great roads must try em some time. :driving:

It's really obvious what happened. Now. Pay attention.

The whoflungdung valve was jammed open on the approach to the corner. This disabled the over-head laughing sprocket which in turn caused the giggle-pin to push the car round too far upon exiting the corner. The anti matter crystals gave too much boost. Therefore the secondary boosters brought him out of orbit which landed him in the tree??

Was it not obvious for the video?

Glad no injury. Glad you've got a new zed. Enjoy :driving:

That's exactly what I saw - thanks for explaining it !

Also glad the OP is ok, could've been so much worse.
