Its like the car is finally in the 21st century isn't it. Looks sooooo much better :)

Get down to a local MOT station and make sure they are level and get em adjusted if they need it. Cost me about 6 pounds i think and nice to know they are not blinding people.

Well, you just lost the race with the guys creating artifical life forms as to who could finish first ( :poke: ) but at least they're on!

+1 - did this with mine, just told me to "buy the guy a drink" (a tenner) as it only took a minute or so to adjust.

And yes look great  I do like the look with the pre-facelift bumper.

SOOO much better... and yes PS I also now prefer the PF bumper now!

Didn't think about checking the adjustment of the lights, so that for the heads up.

There's was a lot of condensation when I first put the headlights on. This has almost gone though with a few minutes of having the lights on and leaving it over night. My guess is that there was moisture in the headlights as i (stupidly) left the back covers off all this time and now a little is stuck inside. Both were fully covered in condensation initally and now you can see there's only a little left on the drivers side and even a smaller amount on the passanger side. so fingers crossed there's no real issues.

P.S. Si brakes are on the car too now. There's hardly any space between the wheels and the brakes! :o

Hey peddy great job!

i have sold my clear headlight and was thinking of going for the ambers sprayed black.

pm me if you want to get rif of your amber bits, i wouldnt mind some to test it on.

pics of the brakes?

Hey Peddy - somehow I missed this thread. Knew you had done it, but great to see in the flesh.

Well done for taking the plunge and chopping up a few lights

Keep going and your car will soon be identical to mine :poke:

Thank CJ... IIRC you were away on your jeep trip, so this thread had already gathered some "dust" upon your return.

All I need is a quad setup with rear difuser and the CJ clone is almost ready!

That's looking good

I'm totally jealous as I've been wanting to do this for a while, but keep on being outbid on ebay :poke:

Thanks Ally, there's a pair on different listings on eBay at the mo.
Ssssshhhhhh! Don't tell anyone as I'm sure it was a Z4-forum'er who outbid my last time judging by the timings/annoucement on here...

:poke:

So.... The driver's side headlight came off today... why... rained last night... morning came... STEAMED UP!! :headbang: :headbang:

Anyways... I've gone round the headlight and shoved so much silicon that I'm worried about the performance decrease due to the weight increase i.e. i put sh*t loads! :D

I was going to test it properly this time before putting them on again, so I was going to put the headlight in the bathroom and turn the shower on and close the door so it steams up well and good. Before I do it I was wondering if anyone had reservations about it and think it would be a bad idea?? :?

Wouldn't have thought you want anything on the inside of the lenses unless it's unavoidable.

Just a thought but what if the shower steam dries leaving water marks on the inside?

Dave

On The inside? do you mean the silicon? if so, then no I haven't put any of it on the inside of the headlight.

re leaving marks - Hmm... didn't think ok that... Maybe I should leave it then especially since the water in London is so hard!

Thanks Dave!

I just meant dirt/dust and water marks etc - IE don't risk getting anything on the inside of the lenses as you won't really get it off without opening again.

Sound's like you've made them truely waterproof now and would hate to see them full of limescale after an unnessisary test

Can't you make it to the Mayday run - yours is one of the Zeds I'd like to see

peddy - that's just not a good idea. The lights are vented anyway so any water or steam will always enter the light if you try 'steaming' it. You also risk watermarks on the inside of the clear cover that will be visible as other note above.

There is no need for lots of silicone and certainly not inside. Just run a single neat bead around the outside and visually inspect it for completeness.

I would give you a 99% chance the condensation leak is via the rear cover that is not seating correctly on its gasket. Check that. If not that check the rubber vents are in place on the rear of the light.
