I've bought an aeroplane!

AMAZING DAY.

Just fab. Fair few glitches to work through. Brake failure. Oil leak and RT issues. Mostly sorted now.

Regarding aero's. Let's just say our test flying schedule advanced rapidly. :P

53mb... youtube is your friend :)

after all that effort arent you tempted to mount a lil camera & memory stick recorder thingy up front somewhere? 8)

now those vids would be worth watching.

excellent effort, like the last minute reading of the instructions lol

you must be well pleased with yourselves

awesome video & G-KLAW looks like a lot of fun.   :D

forgive me - is that you piloting? great barrel roll...

what was the puff of smoke at the end? :?

We are not pushing the video too hard because it was a first cut and some might argue a little OTT for a first test flight! Hence not on Youtube.

It wasn't me flying - but my partner in the aeroplane. He is better qualified to test fly and if I am completely honest a better pilot all round. After this we flew together and a I can safely say the last year of hard work has been completely worth it.

We had a few issues - the ground loop was down to hydraulic fluid loss. No brakes on the left! Engine oil leak. Ran out of elevator trim. No.2 CHT failure and no oil temp. But it FLEW STRAIGHT :-)

The puff of smoke is down to a combination of factors: running the engine at max rich (for breaking/running in reasons), the inverted oil system and because the engine is new.

did look to be pretty confident for a first flight, but then surely that's only down to confidence in building and testing it all the way through.. what a brilliant year you must have had.

i guess flying straight is the holy grail then.. must be a relief to know.

what sort of range would that have & what sort of speeds ? it looks to be more of an agile & fun machine than a way to get somewhere quickly..

It was a nerve racking moment to be sure!

It is primarily an aerobatic aircraft but will also tour quite comfortably. There is even a mini cargo hold in the turtle deck behind the rear seat.

Cruise at an easy 140 kts. Max is about 182kts (210mph). But 140kts will be easier on the pocket.

Stressed to +10/-7G. It is a rocket ship! Sounds awesome - my neighbours already hate me!!

If you're taking it up any time soon, I'd love to come for a look :D

Impressive top speed - bet it's scary at full beans. What sort of range at a moderate speed ?

VNE (velocity never exceed - max speed) run is part of the test flying programme. We accelerated up to 210MPH (speedo in MPH for some weird reason) in seconds and held it with just a shallow dive. I was in the hotseat for that one and she felt steady as a rock. We have now fitted the wheel pants so she is even more slippery through the air!

We have our endurance test to complete this week and that will probably be Friday. I will let you know if it happens.

Let me know when you get a test flight and I'll come and take some pics for the forum ! 8)

 :D

Andy PM sent - we will be flying today and we still don't have any airborne photo's.

If you are busy maybe we could just swing by your place so you don't have to go anywhere?

Great to meet you today Andy - apologies if I was a little distracted. Rest assured there is always a seat for you if you fancy a ride. Sorry we did not do a fly by. We took off at Max weight and had to prioritise.

Today went brilliantly. Completed all our air tests. Flew by and entertained our primary sponsor. Did some aero's and showed off at home! Just brilliant.

Look forward to hearing that exhaust and getting you in my Coupe for some sideways action!

Cheers

Ben.
