I've been hit.

i have had 2 no-fault accidents and my premium didn't go up. make sure you contact your insurance and they often pass to a third party company to avoid a claim history
Your lucky mine went up just because I notified them even though no actual claim was ever made.

a few years ago I backed my van into an a3, I found the owner, asked for the repair bill, and I paid it. £876. I think it would have been quite a lot cheaper to involve my insurance company but it was my fault so I paid the bill.

I know I know, that is why we have insurance. Still, I don't regret it. I think people should accept full responsibility when they err.

People often ask to do it outside of insurance ... but it is fraught with problems. It starts amicably ... but as soonas you agree, they start baulking at the quote .. they don't want you taking it to your own garage ... they have a friend who will do it for less ... who will 'look after you' ... and you will find yourself in a mess.

SIMPLE: file with your own insurance company ...

**** If the party at fault does not want their own insurance company to know about it, they can always pay your insurance company directly.**** 8)
