Its Spring time and the wind deflector has officially been moved from the boot today! :D
For the next eight months the top will spend more time down than up (Sorry Coupe owners but you won't get how good this feels!! :poke: ) so the deflector is now in permanent residence between the seats!
 
Perhaps I'm a bit lazy, but my wind deflector stays mounted year round. I've got used to the rear view being a bit darker and honestly it doesn't feel like it makes any difference to my perception of what's behind me.

same here, never removed it since I had the car :o

Try doing that with a hardtop fitted :lol:

I ended up with massive cobwebs behind the deflector and couldn't remove them. Had to remove the hardtop in the end :cry:

1st January the roof was down.

February and March the roof has been down.

It's an all year convertible!

Just joined, picked up my Z yesterday 😎
Sorry for barging in on this thread, but after driving the 60 miles home with the roof down, with only a t shirt to wear I'm thinking that maybe a deflector should be first on my shopping list 🤔
There appears to be several different types, BMW original and aftermarket, any thought on what type is best? Or does anyone have a spare they would sell? Thanks John

Check the underside of the bootlid in case it's there.

If not there's usually one or two for sale either in the For Sale section of the forum or on the eBay. There's a couple of different types available.

Go for the OEM BMW mesh one, the solid perspex ones cause more buffering than they prevent and the 'gimp' style stretchy ones look a bit odd imo.

Had my first top down drive this year last Saturday on the way home from Brands forgot how nice it is over the winter windows down and no deflector ( sold it to a member on here many years ago as I never used it )

I agree 100%. My roof is down whenever it’s not raining too, irrespective of the month.
I just prefer to have better viability in the Winter months by not having the wind deflector installed.
