Those of you with car-cleaning OCD won't thank me for this as it may end up costing you money... but I recently purchased one of these - I've used it a few times now and it's the dog's danglies...

It generates a 200mph stream of air that gets rid of all those annoying beads of water that hide in wing mirror cowlings, grills, door handles, panel gaps, wheels etc. so you don't finish cleaning/polishing your car and then go back later and find water runs from those awkward areas. The jet of air is powerful enough to blow SWMBOs hair all over the place from about 12ft away

I also obtained a 1.8m soft plastic extension hose which makes the air stream more controllable without having to support the wight of the sidekick

These videos give you a rough idea of how powerful it is but don't really do it justice...

I am not sure I could swing a purchase like this past SWMBO on the basis that it stops drips...

Buuuuuuut... It would REALLY help with drying all the wee bolts on my 108s

Go on then - how much ?

I have the bigger brother of that one - got it from the USA as they were not available in the UK but it means it runs on 110V and requires the transformer (which weighs a ton ...).

Works great though, thank goodness nobody can see me from the road :)

Wipe Ah, that explains the swirl marks. :poke:

Need DI vessel for the stain free water :D

How much

Not as bad as you'd think Metro Vac Sidekick £78, 1.8m extension hose £18

The full-blown Metro Vac Air Force Blaster that PVR has is £199 in 240v form and I might be mad, but I'm not that mad! (well, if I'm honest, it was space considerations, rather than price, that won in the end)

Yep, wipe a drip away from clean paint with a MF towel... and to what swirls do you refer?

How do you clean your car if you don't touch it? :poke:

Referring to your other thread where you mentioned you needed to de-swirl your car :P

I had my car coated so 0 swirl marks for me ...

I had mine coated when it was de-swirled... but a year later there were some minor ones back... black hole and abyss sorted that ;)

I am one that probably resides in the forum top 10 for buying needless things for the car, but this is beyond me

Doesn't a leaf blower do the same thing, but you can also use it for clearing the garden ? Not that I can justify one of them either

I've blown my....

There are lots of other comments about it in this thread on Detailing World. I was a bit skeptical until I tried one but the force of the air is amazing
