Yes, the Ring is still open - and my car is on SuperSports.

There are not a lot of cars on track (i.e. less than 10 on average vs up to 300 on a summer's day) :driving:

It was actually more difficult driving it back from the Ring to the hotel after my 10 laps (done 3 days, and got to save some of my 50 laps for the forecasted better weather on Thursday) - and the track was closing anyway.

That's a bit rubbish :(
Hope weather improves for you :driving:
It’s not rubbish, it’s lots of fun. Slow speed, relatively ‘safe’ sideways action...for example, spinning up the rears, in a straight line in 4th at 2000rpm :P

Snow... SuperSports... OMG

Was 2 degrees yesterday in Poland, then 20 degrees today... having to drive back Friday so fingers crossed....

That looks like a whole world of fun. :D Just in from an open top drive over Dartmoor. Absusute hoot. :driving:

Cool

Snow has already gone, and it’s back up to 9°c.

Which is lucky as we’re off on a 300km drive around the region today.

hopefully not rubbing salt in the wounds, just got back from the ring this weekend and the weather was pretty amazing!

To make things even more crazy it was touristenfahrten + gp-strecke!

Not gonna lie, i'm a bit of a whimp so decided to only take 1 very safe lap around (just to say i have in my Z4). But paid (Ouch that price!) for a hotlap in the Jag F-Type (He done about a 11.00 - 11.30 lap for that layout!) which was all i needed :P

When did you get back? I saw about 7-8 Z4's over the course of the weekend!

Got back late Saturday night after 4 days of lappage - admittedly not as many laps as I would have liked (always leave wanting to do more), but the cost is getting a bit much (50 laps = £1000-£1200 depending on what day it is).

Saw a couple of Z4s too - especially liked the stripped out white Z4MC (which was probably at least 300kg lighter than mine - as I had a 110kg passenger with me every lap).

I thought I'd save some lap credits for the weekday/Thursday session to get the most out of my credits - but I didn't realise Thursday was a national holiday and thus eats credits at the weekend premium rate

I also think I'll be swapping out the EBC Orangestuff pads, as they're not suitable for my style of driving at the Ring - as there are too many cooling down sections so the pads go from 's**t, there's no brakes' to 'rip your face off' to 's**t, the brakes have gone' over the course of a lap.

If you keep that in mind and touch the brake pedal a bit whilst approaching the end of a long straight, then you'll get some heat into them - or if you're driving at Cadwell, Oulton & the like with shorter gaps between heavy braking sections.

Not suitable for a daily driver!

I was amazed at how much it COULD cost for a ton of laps, With the amount of laps you done, you were not far off from saving money by getting a season pass! :P

Was mainly chilling (quite literally saturday! - Freezing cold!) at Eschbach, Brunnchen and Pflanzgarten. I gave a little cheer every time I saw a Z4 go past, If you went past Saturday at any point, you would of got a cheer.

Sounds like someone needs to sort out a Z4 roadtrip to nurburg for next year *nudge* :poke:

Wasn’t on track on Saturday as we arrived late Saturday evening, and left the following Saturday morning.

Every year I consider a Jahreskarte, but I ever think I’ll do enough laps make it worthwhile. One of my mates however has done 500 laps this year, so has spent multiples more on fuel, tyres & break pads than on laps. He only comes off to refuel or replace pads (about 3 sets of the cheapest pads he can find for a Seat Leon Cupra).

500 laps?! That's impressive! I didn't even think to consider the cost of tires/brakes/fuel as well! :o

Just been sent a link via a 3rd party which captures some of my many laps over the years.
