My cost per mile is going down all the time though, as the depreciation curve has slowed (4p/mile), the insurance in getting less (1p/mile), tyres are getting cheaper (maybe 1p/mile), and once I hit 100k miles I'll be cancelling the warranty (4p/mile) and it'll be going to my specialist for everything (1p/mile).

Plus I'm getting 45p/mile (first 10k miles), 22p/mile (over 10k miles) back (so say 30p/mile paid by someone else).

So a total 'saving' of about 41p/mile or 66% - man maths at its best :thumbsup:

On the flip side, I'll be spending any savings on mods & paint, and mods will probably increase the insurance cost :headbang:

I told her they were well cheaper than running her ...... :rofl:

As it happens it's me refusing to pay my ex anymore money that's freed up funds for the the m! So now I have an m in the garage for what I was paying her ;).

(Long story, I had no legal obligation to pay and no kids involved. Just don't want you guys to think bad of me)

Ps. If it goes tits up with this one I will be selling the engagement ring and supercharging the m lol (only joking love)
 
M is proving less to run after 2.5 years, than I had expected. I'm doing around 8k miles per year in mine, running it as a Weekend car and it get's driven! on Weekends. :driving:

But tbh if something does break it will be fixed, s**t happens! Life's to short my friend.

In my case at 22k miles with full bmw history I would expect some "good will" coming my way should anything major go wrong. Not to mention from the dealer who sold me the car.

Dont mean to be twunt honest. Enjoy the car, at 22k we're on the same mileage. What could possibly go wrong. :evil:
 
After a long history of buying the second fastest/next to top car in the range, I weighed up all the pros and cons, costed it out over the minimum 5 years that we'll own the car.
I included depreciation, consumables, servicing, fuel and economy, insurance, slush fund just in case, VED.

I then burnt these figures and convinced the OH that we needed to treat ourselves after a few stressful years.

If we all thought of things purely financially/worry free motoring, we'd all be doing THIS

It is by far and a way the cheapest way to put 343 reliable bhp on your driveway. If you have the funds, I highly recommend you pick one up.

not only is that complete rubbish.... what does it matter what BHP you have???

there are faster and more fun cars with less power out there..... not to mention cheaper cars with higher BHP outputs....

well I'm sure you can all use autotrader the same as I can, so in the spirit of "teach a man to fish" go and check.

I'll even help out, you can start with BMW...I can think of 3 models right away with at least the same or more power that can be bought for less and are just as reliable...

plenty of cars with less power that are also just as fast/fun to drive... look at caterham etc...

is that OK, or do you want the blooming reg plates of the cars in question... :rofl:

Got a feeling if you factory in practicality (do a degree) and reliability the list wont be too long.

Do you not like the M?? It seems (judging by another thread on here) that some consider M owners elitist and show-offs??
