I have to agree - not sure why they do this when most people try to make everything body coloured! They are distinctive though and I suppose it's done so the 35is is immediately obvious.

Now here's an admission - I ordered the Melbourne red without ever seeing it in the flesh - couldn't find a BMW in the colour anywhere so just took a punt on red and metallic. I have previously had red sports cars and following the previous three blue cars decided I wanted red this time round, especially with the ivory white interior. I was expecting it to be a bit darker and more metallic in appearance and was completely surprised, nay gobsmacked, when it turned up ............ it is absolutely stunning. Even my eldest son had to admit it is an absolutely gorgeous colour having continually ribbed me about red cars!

No, I haven't named her but she is definitely female!
