It's a Question of Style

Hi all,
bought a Z4 on Saturday, 2003, 2.5 litre Sport.
It's being serviced and valeted etc this week so I cant drive it home till next Saturday....oh the agony!

I was torn between the Z4 and a TT Roadster till I saw them both side by side.
No contest, it had to be the Zed :D

Anyway, I have a terrible problem which I hope you can help me with.

Thanks to inheriting my father's genetic profile I am "follically challenged"..."too tall for my hair"..."possess a low drag factor"

My problem is, I dont want to end up with sunburn driving around with the top down all summer (assuming we actually have a summer this year!)
But, I also dont want to go down the 'reversed baseball cap' road and end up looking like a delinquent.

How do you guys with similarly "convertible hairlines" manage?

Beenie hat works for me! I even wear one in the Coupe......

(maybe i'm chav and essex is wearing off on me?) Still, it beats looking like a Drug Dealer with my Skin head!

Why not just wear the baseball cap the correct way? Although I'm not "too tall for my hair"....actually I'm quite the opposite lol, too short for my hair...anyways, I wear a military style hat. At first I thought the thing would fly off my head while on the highway with the top down but at no point do I ever feel like it's going to come off.

My hat is something like this.

Then again I don't wear my hat loose.

Philosophico, welcome to the forum...
As Traxxer suggested wear a baseball hat the "correct way" when driving... :driving:
I wear our local club hat... 8)

Wear a proper driving cap. Good for all ages. Not as good as a baseball cap for shielding your face from the sun, but it definitely looks classier.

I recommend getting one that slightly snug-fitting so that it doesn't fly off when driving on the highway.

When I had my Honda S2000 I always wore a leather English driving cap - backwards. The wind would lift it right off my head and leave it back alongside the roadway if I had the bill facing forward:

Sort of ended up with a Biker look but it did keep the sun off of my thinly covered scalp and would stay on even out on the freeway.

Aaaah, a driving cap, that could fit the bill. Cheers.

I didnt fancy smearing myself with suntan lotion first thing in the morning.

As you can see from my avatar, it takes me longer than most to wash my face :D

I tend to just wear a decent adjustable cap (I get some nice freebie BMW Sauber hats cos I work for Intel) - if i really want to let the wind through my scalp though, I just have a small bottle of high factor spray on sun-cream in the glove box (the stuff that doesn't need rubbing in)

I shouldn't worry about a baseball cap flying off at high speed, i've had a few convertibles now (ones with more turbulance than the Z4) and they've never come off.

Hope that helps a bit

suntan lotion. wearing a cap everytime you drive with the top down is a drag. Let the remaining strands wave in the wind!

A couple of my family with "skintop lids" developed skin cancers (all treated successfully) and I didnt want to risk joining that club :(

I live at 7000 ft elevation so the sun is a bit intense. Having a similar issue with more forehead than hair, I tried a number of sunblocks. I settled on one by Neutrogena that really works. Not greasy, doesn't smell like your mothers purse, and it's VERY easy to apply.
Plus I keep a ball cap in the car at all times.

I wear a baseball cap the right way around. It fits snugly and I've never had it come off. The only downside is that my forehead is a lighter shade than the rest of my face all summer. :)

Baseball hat worn the correct way for me

One more thing not to forget is to get some decent shades too, not only for looking great (!) but also to protect your eyes too, and if you wear glasses (like me) you can now get loads of prescription shades that look really awesome too.

I got these last year, they stay on whatever the speed, wear the cap a lot less now too, although I'm not as folically challenged as some...
