Off to see the WHO at the O2 next weekend ( thought this may be our last chance to see them - one or both of us might be dead by the next time they plan to tour )

The following weekend we're off on our annual Greek fix - two weeks of lying on a sunbed , drinking Mythos and eating out every night at our favourite tavernas.

This year will take one of those new fangled tablets to stay in touch what's going on on here !

Although I note than you are having senior moments as you posted this thread twice!

You're right - slippery slope leading to dementia !

Bro in Law is Chair of the Dept of Neurodegenerative Diseases at U of Toronto.
He did his Post Doc at Harvard
Im not even sure how to spell that disease ! ;)
The guy I bought my Hard Top from last week also works in that area but is expanding his studies at MIT in Boston.

Wots this got to do with avoiding dimentia ?
Nuthin
Except that Im confident there is some quality research going on ...
And if it' comes too late for me ..
Well my brain will be dissected by friends and family

I transferred this one over from the DUP Thread...
Gov had a Senior's Moment ...?

I feel your pain ...
Retired life ...Well it takes some getting used to.
Like not have to do sfa and still getting that cheque in the bank.
Avoiding weekends cause too many people are out and about.
No hassles and no problems...

Only planning is around those pesky doctor's visits ...
You say they have a "tablet" that keeps you in "touch" ?
Sweet !
Gawd the pharmacy makes some great dope !
:driving:

Cheers

It's a samsung tablet although an ecstasy pill sounds more attractive.

I don't know about dementia but I reckon I'm getting more in touch with my feminine side - was persuaded to go with the wife to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert at the Mayflower last week and thoroughly enjoyed it!

SNAP - O2 for the Who - summer in Crete with Mythos - just bought Mrs J an iPad.......

Yep, retired a year+ now. Off to Portugal in 2 weeks immediately followed by a gig for my band at my local pub.

Apart from that, the usual hooning around in the zed and cruising the river Soar in my narrow boat.

Retirement is great fun if you make the decision right at the start not to grow old gracefully.

Retired! My best career move ever. Over five years now and loving every minute apart from (as Bumpy has already said ) those visits to the Doc's!

I'm dreading retirement. I doubt there will be holidays, sports cars, boats etc for many of my generation (my parents have just retired as a rough guide to my age). The few that have been prudent and saved will be massively taxed to subsidise everyone that couldn't afford to due to the out of control cost of living.

The sports car bit probably doesn't matter anyway as i guess by the time i'm 65 the UK will look a bit like a Mad Max film and we will be fighting on the forecourts for the last drop of fuel using human shin bones as spears.

Absolutely bang on. Sadly.

Back from our trip to the O2 - Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend ( no jokes please - it was for research purposes only ) might be old ( even older than me ! ) but they can still perform - LOUD LOUD LOUD !
Great night out in the smoke - support group were really good as well.

I sympathise greatly, but consider that in my youth I did not have the opulence of cars (of any sort at all), gap years, foreign travel, etc etc. which seems to be the accepted norm these days.

It's my turn now :D

Great stuff, I saw The Who years back (1969?) when I was at University. Keith Moon was still with us then. Tremendous show, as I remember (you know what the say about the '60s) :D

Sounds like they still have got it!
