Forgive me for having a rant but oh how the rattles are driving me mad..!

Love the car to bits but oh how she rattles! How could BMW produce what is a prestige motor that does this? :headbang:

I've read loads threads on rattles so I know I'm not alone but finding the source is driving me crazy - looked everywhere and can't find anything obvious. Up until last week I just had one which seems to be coming from high up behind the passenger seat when roof is up - I'd assumed it was the roof mechanism but now I'm not sure whether it's coming from there or from the boot? It seems to disappear after 20 minutes of driving so I put up with it.

Since last week I've had the most annoying intermittent buzzing type rattle (like two pieces of hard plastic trim vibrating together) which seems to be coming from the area around the heating/ac controls or the pop up screen (putting screen down doesn't solve it though) - again I can't find the source and it's driving me bonkers..!

The car is less than 2 years old - my question is if I take it back to BMW will they look at this under the warranty?

I feel your pain! I LOVE mine with the roof down......but with the roof up, the rattles are "trying".....

Im slowly working my way around panels with sticky velcro to try and figure out a repair....

Have read a few older threads about roof rattles, but they are all missing the photos, so not much use!!
 
BMW Should look at it under warranty I took my old 1 series convertible back numerous times for rattles but be warned it is sometimes a case of cure 1 but create a new 1 !
 
Cheers - I'll pop in to Bowker next week and will post what they do/say. On a positive note it's pretty dry this weekend hear up north so roof will be down :driving:

Yes, they will. Sytner sorted my roof rattle at 18 months and it hasn't come back. Just give them as much lead information as you can. And if your dealer doesn't fix it keep going back until they do. It'll then be on record so if it returns after warranty you have a stronger case.

Mines well out of warranty.....so any hints or tips on known fixes appreciated!

Ideally with pics! There are a few threads on here about things to check, but none of the pics are there anymore so its reallŷ difficult to figure out what is being described....
 
Finally dropped car off at Bowkers this morning to have the rattles sorted -can you believe it?!! - on drive there not a rattle to be heard!!!! -totally silent!!! :roll: I’m sure as I drove away in the courtesy car my little beauty was grinning fro ear to ear :rofl: Can’t wait for the call from Bowker tomorrow telling me I must be hearing things :headbang:
