An update and perhaps helpful info on O2 sensors....

I've posted part I before... with background http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24556

So the car spent two weeks with BMW garage.

1. They couldn't resolve the click-click sound - they reckon its a loose pipe behind dash and BMW offered 50% labour contribution as goodwill for 2. below - I'm unconvinced and not too keen to be staring at £500-1k labour to have my dash removed to look for problem possibly not find it and in all likelihood end up with dashboard creaks.

so..

2. History its a 04/06 Z4MR FBMWSH - warranty - me (professor) and previous owner (well off private plate solicitor) - bougth by me 09/08 at 24K now at 55K.
Its had 6 Oxygen sensors replaced in life! 15 Months ago it had a BMW PUMA inspection, since then yellow light has came on twice (penultimate one about 11 months ago). So now its had a full dressing down.. lots of to and fro from garage and BMW.... initially cats were suspected but it now has had two more sensors replaced - this time they think they've got it sorted....

so what can I say... I've pointed out I've never seen any car loose O2 sensors so often is obvious. maybe I've got a rouge....but there is obvioulsy somthing underlying... IMHO its not the sensors per se but more likley something in wiring, software, control.

I wonder if the next person to see yellow light of O2 should demand a new engine management ECU?
