Hello!

So, my car is currently having a new exhaust fitted. After taking off the old exhaust, the whole heat shield fell off. It was completely f'ed. it's runs under the prop-shaft

What should I do? Is it safe to drive without it on? Urgh!

Anyone got any advice?

UNDER the prop shaft? So it protects the road from heat? There is a heat shield OVER the prop shaft that keeps heat from migrating from the tunnel into the passenger compartment. Under the prop shaft sounds more like an under tray component, which is for aerodynamics, not heat protection.

if so, safe to drive, but you should get it fixed at some point. Disclaimer: I'm going on memory, I'm too lazy to raise my car to confirm what I think I remember.

My guess is that one of the reasons for the shield is to stop the car starting a fire if parked on dry leaves after a long journey, get it changed.

Bcworks is spot on. I'm too lazy to go look either :)

Ok to drive short distances without it on in this cooler wearher, but will soon get hot in traffic or hard driving.
