My SAT communication.. Can't find a SAT to lock on... So my GPS was lost in LaLa land...
The dealer checked my version and it was upto date.. Checked the antenna and it was good.. Checked for errors in the GPS could not find any... Then he said... We will need to replace the computer again at no cost to me since the old computer they put in was less then a year old and under warranty.. Bad news they do not stock it and they have to order a new one... For now my little trusty $50.00 Garmin gets me where I need to go... Pretty sad when you pay 2500.00 extra for the GPS feature.....

Yes I had similar, they replaced the cabling, system etc. but it kept coming back - eventually found it myself though, it was the receiver. Replaced it with a better one from eBay (us sourced, not far east supplied) and never looked back

I'm having the same problems and want to try an aerial. Does anyone know if its the smb male or female connector that's required?

ebay search for (GPS antenna SMB BMW E39 E46 X5 MK1 MK2 MK3 MK4 Blaupunkt Travelpilot VDO Philips) cost £7.98 works fine, no need to bother routing it to the front of the car, it will work fine in the boot! Easy!
