I’m feeling a bit better today & tested negative, the only fly in the ointment is that mrs Smartbear tested positive at the same time
Rob

The tests are a shambles, they seem about as accurate as mystic meg

Get well soon

Nose or throat test? The samples of the throat appear to be more accurate.

Good luck being at home, hope you feel better

Interesting you say that, I read an article this morning that suggested people are getting false positives because they are sticking lateral flows in their throat as well as their nose when you are only supposed to use them in your nose (the new ones anyway).

For a negative result, they’re only as good as the operator doing the test correctly :poke:
For a positive result, it’s about 99.93% accurate, as long as the operator follows the instructions. The new tests are designed for nose only, if you then use it on the throat you can get a false positive because of things you may have swallowed/consumed.

Read and follow the instructions is the best bet to have the most reliable rest.

I did hear that the old tests were both throat and nose and the new ones just done the throat, wonder if the chinese bum tests are coming :sick2:

The accuracy of the tests seems to be quite a variable number, the University of Birmingham came back with 58%-72%, University of Bath came up with 80%-90% and the University of Oxford came up with 99.7%. Uni of Liverpool put it as low as 40% but also as high as 99.9%

All in all it seems like they are wildly inconsistent and thats without the variable of not doing them properly

No the new ones are nose only, much nicer. Don't like the thought of sticking it up my bum though. :x  Also is that before or after you stick it up your nose. :o
