Is V power the best performing premium fuel?

Out of interest, how much is v-power in England now? I drove past a shell garage here the other day and it was over €2 a litre! most other high octane stuff is around €1.82- 190 which seems (almost :headbang: ) reasonable considering the cost of the regular fuel.

I think the going rate is £1.289 for unleaded and £1.369 for V Power. Tesco is £1.289 95 ron and £1.339 momentum 99. BP garages tend to be more expensive but seem to have rained their costs in a bit lately. Other supermarkets here tend to charge from £1.267 upwards (not sure why Asda now uses .7 of a pence)

Tesco's Super is almost identical to Shell's V Power and around 3p cheaper. I believe it's 0.1 of a RON different with Shell being 99.8 RON and Tesco's being 99.7 RON.
The marketing blurb for V-Power says that the main differentiator is in the detergent package that Shell use, not in the RON.

When evo magazine did a comparison of different petrols (including an engine strip-down) some time ago, Shell came top.

Crikey, I'm almost inclined to say its a flipping bargain! Seems you're paying for v-power what we pay for regular
