Is v power dying out

I have only ever fueled mine on v power it runs great! Do any of you guys use any other additives/ octane boosters ? :D

Mine runs like a dog on 95 octane, and not too well on Tesco 99 either :(

Been using Sainsburys 97 for a while now (it's just round the corner) but my local Total has just become a Shell so I may start using them once I reckon they've exhausted the SUL tanks (Shell aren't going to throw away the fuel in the tanks and replace it with V-Power, are they?)

I'd love to know how the fuel pricing works at Shell. V-Power round my way is currently 2p per litre cheaper than normal diesel, when only a few weeks ago it was a couple of pence more....I'm not complaining though :D

I assume it relates to the varying cost to Shell in the supply chain, but am slightly surprised they adjust the price at the pump in such small amounts to account for it.

They change the price when they refill the tanks. Diesel gets filled every day or two so the price fluctuates, with super it only gets filled every couple of weeks.

Are you sure you're not confusing V-Power SUL with V-Power Diesel when you see the price difference?

Just filled up with shell v-power 8p more in birmingham...is that normal?
V-Power is 8-12p more than Shell 95 in the places I usually fill up. Tesco 99 is 2-5p more than Tesco 95.

What exactly is Tesco petrol? I'm assuming they buy it in massive quantities from one of the big petrol producing companies but which one?

I've put almost 20k on the ///M since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. Most of that has been Sainsburys 95RON fuel. Every now and then I decide to put in BP Ultimate 97 (there is nothing else available where I live) and there is definitely a noticeable difference in power...but like everything...you soon get used to it.

No O2 sensor failures either....never had anything light up on the dash other than the low fuel indicator

I don't think potential engine wear should be an issue for a lot on this forum either....you need to drive the car to wear out the engine :fuelfire:

So I'll keep putting 95 in and save the 97 for the dry days.

I'm putting the higher octane stuff in cos that's what it recommends the manual but it's a personal choice. I usually put V power in but I have to go out my way to find it. I have a tesco local but I'm unsure as to how good or what the 99 is hence my previous post.
