Is This Z4m supercharged known to the club

Hi

This is quite local to me and so was interested if anyone in the club had any info on the car. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-06-BMW-Z4M-3-2-Z4-M-ROADSTER-2D-455-BHP-SUPERCHARGED-POUND-25K-MODIFICATIO/303125739476?hash=item4693b3b7d4:g:ExEAAOSwvrddS3DG Googling I found a few of these conversions in the states and I understand a member on here did one but I was unsure if this was the same vehicle.

Any info would be gratefully received

This one has been for sale for ages. Pretty decent price given all the extras.

As far as I know it wasn’t owned by anyone on the forum.

Bedub has done a similar install

Looks in pretty rough condition paintwise, probably a car that has been on the track multiple times.

Still I dont get these kind of ads. Supercharged, lots of mods, but absolutely NO PICTURES of the engine bay, interior etc. :idunno:

Could be a bargain race car. Could be a massive money pit waiting to implode. Looks quite ropey from the exterior pics. So I would want to get a very thorough inspection done, before making any commitment.

If Beedubs is about, I expect he could give you a more valid opinion than most.

Has been discussed at length previously , there was a member close to buying it .
Price now is considerably less than initially marketed ( £22k iirc)
It needs work but circa £16k for a charged S54 then you can't really expect it to be flawless with zero spend required .

I think this was at DT Performance when I visited back in Feb this year to look at a Boxster RS 60 Spyder and a Lotus Evora. I didn't take any real interest in it, though, did nothing for me tbh. The guys at DT Performance seem really nice, so I'm sure they'd be happy for you to check it out. I suggest you phone up in advance and make an appointment.

I went to see it back in April this year. Great guys there and were very helpful. Car has a small market as it is a convertible that you cannot put the roof down (It’s either hardtop on or off) and it’s not as pretty as the coupe with the roof on. For me it was the worst of both worlds and would be a tricky resell. After some research I would also be looking to add an inter cooler as intake temperatures may be high after extended track use. Like others have said I think the purchase price would be the start of the spending. I looked at it at 20K. Very difficult to value as there really is not another one like it to compare it to.

Some pictures of the engine bay and an idea of when the supercharger was fitted would be helpful! And maybe the service history!! If all checks out its excellent value, but would set aside 5-7k for maintenance. If you can get it for 15k, even if you add another 5k of maintenance you'll have a seriously fast car for only 20k.

Track use with super charger? Yep, if you wanna do 4 laps and then pull in because of the heat. SC s54 track builds are rare as hens eggs because of heat build up. Nice for road, not for track.

Exactly how rare are hens eggs then? :D

I bought the car over the weekend and it appears Wednesday... so I will let you know how it goes.

I spoke to the previous owner at length who is a really lovely guy who had all the work done so I am really pleased with the buy. After all the work completed it has only a couple of thousand miles which was mainly 2 trips to Spa and back. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a very serious illness shortly after hence why it was sold.

Congratulations, I look forward to reading your write up and seeing a few more photographs, including inside and under the bonnet :)
Did you get both sets of wheels with the car, it wasn’t clear from the eBay listing which it would come with? Either way, the cost of the modifications far out strip the asking price of the car.

Nice move :driving: sounds like you got yourself a very rare Z there Dominic :) look forward to hearing how it goes

Very sad to hear about the sellers situation, hope he manages to pull through and enjoy his next project. Can't wait to see some pics under the bonnet and yea you appear to have got yourself a rare car.
