is this the cruise control plug?

I am in the process of fitting a cruise control stalk into my zed. I have removed the steering column cover beneath the steering wheel and have found a small plug tucked in the loom - can anyone confirm if this is the cruise control plug before I go ahead and open the sealed box from BMW containing the cruise control (BMW Bristol tell me if I open the box then they wont refund me in the event it turns out there is no suitable plug under the steering column!)

Also is there a forum how-to guide on fitting the cruise control stalk?
 
Yes - just checked my original post and that's the plug. Brown/blue/white.
As you have a '53 the loom extension is there already, so double confirmation
 
cheers guys, thanks for the advice ... having purchased the cruise control stalk I was a little unsure on how to proceed having been told by an independent bmw mechanic that fitting the cc would also require programming :thumbsdown: ... that thankfully turns out not to be the case: I plugged it in, pushed the stalk into its holder and took the car out on a road test and it all works fine. Now just have to cut out the slot in the steering column cover and jobs a good 'un!
 
Result then :)

If you check the inside of the cowl it has mould line. Cut slightly smaller than that, then extend as required after a test fit.

Dremel makes light work of it, but small saw and a couple of different files is an option

No ideas really -it's the simplest plug and play mod possible. I'd have to suspect the switch or loom is damaged.
Recheck the connection and failing that it's Indy, BMW or someone with coding software to take a look

When I fitted mine, it didn't work until I got the car over 20 mph, it was simply plug and play

yeah, it's the reason why I done it.

Plugged the switch into loom, slid it into the part it was designed to slide into, slid the undercover back on and did the 1 screw.

never worked. I'll try again on the way home tonight. when I press it do I need to do something? hold it in? i read the instructions a while back. but as soon as i lifted off the gas the car just crawled to a stop. i'm sure i was going pretty fast too last time i tried it like 50.
 
Once moving, just push it forward and it should stay at the speed your doing, pull backwards to increase the speed. Up or down to cancel and the button on the end will get back to the last known speed.
 
Am I understanding right ? To fit Cruise to my 2007 E86 I just need 1 part and 30 minutes of plugging it in ? :?

No, yours is newer and will need more work, only the early E85's had plug and play I believe :thumbsup:

Yes, at the end :lol:

There is a how-to, it's not difficult, just fiddly and time consuming.

I'll just stay with the right foot speed control system them. The E30 gets first place in the time and attention league.
