Is this the 2.0i exhaust solution?

As I'm sure many of you already know, when designing the 2.0i Z4 BMW went with the batsh*t mental idea of adding an awkwardly proportioned oval exhaust (two pipes into one oval). My current solution is ok, just a fairly large oval tip I found on Amazon:

Meh. It does a job, but I ain't half jealous of the rest of you with your twins and your quads! So bar getting someone to saw off the oval and weld two new pipes to the remaining stumps, I have never seen an exhaust tip with an oval inlet and a twin outlet. But I might just have come close. I've just ordered this (scroll down for pics):

No doubt it needs cutting down, but at least it will accept the 2.0i oval, and it gives a twin effect of sorts. It may be my cheapskate solution until I can save up enough for a proper quad system. I'll let you know my thoughts when it arrives.

I thought your Z was a 3 litre. You live and learn hey. I'd say take a grinder to it and weld a twin is the best bet.

I have done loads of twin conversions on 2.0l cars if you ever need it done just ask. But I think your right that will do the trick until you can get a quad. Just do it right ditch the bmw back box get fomthing like Jjngles.

It will look like what it is, a slip on try hard.

At the end of the day we all know that you will end up doing something better with it so why bother wasting money in the interim. For example, those stupid brake covers that everyone told you not to buy, which eventually got ditched for some better real brakes.

You say budget is limited and then spend unnecessarily. I don't get it...

I'd rather have real smaller boobs than bigger fake ones but each to their own.

I presume there's room for a twin so I guess you could replace the back box with a twin outlet from a 3 litre and box off one of the inlets

You really are a bundle of joy aren't you.

Thanks, you're down south somewhere though aren't you? The twin conversion is certainly an option, but like you say I really want to work towards a setup like Jingles eventually. This is just a cheap and cheerful add on that may or may not do the trick for now, and at £25 it's ultimately low risk.

Just out of interest, what is the going rate for a twin conversion?

Can’t be any more than £50 I do it for £90 with a set of my tips.

This is a 2.0 box that I converted to twin pipes at the same time as modding the internals, take it this is the look you are after?

I use 54mm OD stainless with a 1.2mm wall thickness.

Yes that's the ideal look I'd want, much better than the oval. If you could add a pipe across to the offside even better

It looks good as it is now.

I'd just save up for the quad if i were you, would look best with the diffuser seeing as you're going for a modified look.
no point wasting money on temporary twins when you're saving up for quads

So in answer to the title of this thread, the result is a resounding NO. Two reasons:

1. Doesn't look right
2. Doesn't fit

So the plan therefore is to remain as is until I can afford to do something better.

Good God you're miserable man! Do you mind not slithering about behind me all the time? Surely there are others who's doorstep you could darken.

I say why not give it a go if you want to change it up a bit for now... worst case it goes back on the internet and you lose about a tenner.

I only said what most people were thinking but were too polite to say and it turned out to be true.

If you hadn't spent on things like this and brake covers you'd already have the funds for a proper twin conversion.

For what it's worth I think you've done a good job with your car but I genuinely don't understand why you bother with rubbish in the interim.
