Is this replaceable

It is listed as king pin, but have not looked at eBay or anything like that to see if there are cheaper versions of that
[ref]chengy[/ref], I think he means the lower 'wishbone'. Didn't you just buy a pair of Meyle ones from ECP.
[ref]pvr[/ref], that lower wishbone doesn't look corroded to me from your photo?
However, if you're changing the rest..................... obviously consider doing the lollipop at the same time unless they are relatively new.

Thanks Martin, sorry for the late reply.

I bought two Meyle HD front control arms as the ball joints had gone. Found a good deal on eBay for both sides.

Meyle HD part numbers are:

Left - 3160500003/HD
Right - 3160500004/HD

Are these the parts you’re after?

Cheers

No, they seem ok on mine. It was the part which includes the suspension clamp

Hub is easy to swap with the only dodgy bit being the knuckle bolt that clamps the strut. They seize up.

I’ve been pondering on this for mine. I’ve (thankfully) removed both bolts. Do you think I can replace the standard part 31306779487

With a titanium bolt? A part of me would die if I refurbed the whole knuckle and at some point I needed to remove the bolt and it sheared.

Interested to know your (and anyone else’s) thoughts?

I always replace with genuine BMW replacement bolts. Never tried anything else, but then I refurb the cars and pass them on, so I'm not likely to be around when they need doing again.

Yeah, I think I'll just have to take a view to replace at certain frequencies. I'm assuming the original ones are 20 years old... So before then!
Thanks for the comment :)

Just replaced both of those bolts on my 17-year-old coupe with OE from BMW. The old ones had given up most of their zinc to protect the steel, but they zipped out easily. New bolts are good insurance, and the zinc dip on the BMW parts is superior to most of what's available in the retail channels.

Didn’t know they were zinc coated. Thanks for sharing. I think the UK gets it’s fair share of salt over winter months so probably eats away the sacrificial coating quicker than other areas.

That could be it. I had one shear before and the last one took a half day of careful heating, turn a bit, repeat
