I am very very tempted to take mine to a professional. Few hundred quids doesnt seam alot for the results these guys appear to get. Having had a go at machine polishing the car I think it may be the way forward. Paint is rock hard.

Anyone else had theres done?

Yep, I've had a go at polishing the boot on mine with a random polisher, didn't really tackle the swirls but the car looks great. I will get it done professionally in the Spring. Paint does seem very hard.

That car looked stunning when he was done... starting to sound like a broken record today, third mention, but have a look at these guys...

If you look at the testimonials you can see exactly what they're doing at each stage. Some prices on there too.

If you want something to tackle swirls and scratches Megs Scratch X is supposed to be very good! I'm going to give it a go, see how I get on.

That said think I may well keep the polish topped up for the next few months and get a full spruce up for the summer!

Driving the car almost every day in all weathers I just couldn't bring myself to pay for this, as the effect would last five minutes :( , but a really useful product list in there for problem areas!

and a great job on the car I have to admit!

I'd never want to drive mine if it ever got as shiny as that!!! Looks amazing though, maybe in the spring when I've had the wheels re furbed.

The problem with getting it detailed is then the paint has NO swirls or scratches :o Then you have to wash it :(

You will be told to buy two buckets made from the skin of a Tibetan monk, two grit guards made from soft cheese, a mitt made from the pubic hair of a vestal virgin, 'special' bubbles made from 'special' detergent, lance and jet washer, soft cloths made from micro sheep's wool, a special drying towel made from dandelion seeds to pat the car dry (NO rubbing) .... and guess what? after a couple of washes it will still have bloody swirls all over it

This is because the swirl fairy will scratch your car one night when you are safely tucked up in bed..........well it is friday and it's been a hard week!

Lol nail just about on head.

Whilst Detailing World is a great site and really informative it can get very anal very quickly and as you say the reality is it is almost impossible to maintain the swirl free paintwork.....unless of course you park the car up in a garage and never drive it....but what would the fun in that be?

Well I reckon that you gotta drive it, gotta keep it clean and than means swirls. Still its got to be better starting from a shine like that.

I've deliberately dragged myself away from reading the cleaning sections of detailingworld and just looked at the gallery. Could feel myself getting wrapped up in it!

Would rather be out there :driving:

I've had my car detailed. When I bought it, there were swirl marks everywhere and it was spoiling owning the car.

Its soooooooooooooo shiny now, but I don't drive it in wet weather anymore and I've just bought a daily drive car so I can be even more selective with driving the zed !

Is that strut brace mounted in reverse?

Or doesn't it matter which way its mounted?

(reason I ask is because mine arrives Wednesday)
