Is this normal?

I tried to search the forum and couldn't find anything but is it normal when you put the Z4 automatic (2003 3.0i sport package) into drive, you feel the car lower a little? I think it's more pronounced when coming from out of reverse and into drive.
 
Yes, the car isn't getting lower but what it is doing is trying to move forwards. In an automatic, the clutch is effectively being "let out" (OK I know they don't have a clutch, but similar idea).

So it's like a manual car leaving the handbrake on - the car is trying to rotate the rear wheels, but being locked in place it pulls itself down.
 
Phew :D I thought it was normal but since this is a second hand Zed, i'm still a little overly anxious that I haven't bought a lemon.. Going to be looking at doing the springs and other items people recommend to replace. Thanks for your quick and informative response, greatly appreciated :thumbsup:
