Mine is doing the same. Battery went flat the other day and now the window on drivers side won't auto up, plus clocks went blank etc.

I'm off to get a new battery this weekend. Doesn't look easy to get to though? Deliberately get you to take it to BMW?

Very easy mate halfords have them. Bosch silver or something. 120 at halfords or 80 online.

My battery isn't great - let it die last summer while I was abroad and even though its working, its not great....noticed today that the 'roof open on key' function drops the windows and then stops, so guess its a new battery for me :(

I have usually used Varta batteries on my 4x4s and other vehicles with great success - haven't looked at versions for different Zed engines but heres one example - seller has 55,000-odd feedbacks with a few negs as you'd expect with such volume, but they all look like knobends LOL.

If not there are plenty of online suppliers you can use.

Yeah daz05 got it booked in to halfords for the bosch, just hope they dont balls up the install.

cheers dan

If you have done nothing different with the frequency that you drive the car and suddenly the battery has lost charge then it's probably a life expired battery, (hopefully not an alternator problem) and I think from your original post that's what happened.

However I was caught out by what happened when I stuck my car in the garage for a week with it locked (and therefore alarmed). The engine would barely turnover and some warning lights on the dash came on unexpectedly. However thanks to some great posts on here I worked out that low usage was draining the battery, gave it a 12hr charge on my 25 year old crappy basic charger and then kept it on a battery conditioner 24/7 and since then it's absolutely fine and I didn't have to spend a penny on a new battery. So just rule out that it's not low usage causing your problem.

Low usage killed my old battery. Luckily I had a jump pack with me.
Bought and fitted a new Bosch Silvertop and I have the car hooked up to a CTEK XS3600 maintainer/charger when not in use now. Fitting is easy enough with a socket set.
