Is this Flatout?

I thought you meant flatout as in foot to the floor rather than forum member ;) I'm not surprised he's quicker with all those mods!

Ive seen Flatout on track and his car does sound lovely. I think the M3 slows when he come out of slipstream, makes quite a difference at speed.

I don't know what exhaust system is on that M3, but it sounds awfully raspy/tizzy

nice to see another z4m that gets cared for properly being used properly also!! well done!!

What mods does flat out have and which track is it?

Very tinny at low revs, maybe it's got straight pipes?

Yep that was me. This clip was taken at Snett back in 2008 when the car was pretty much stock apart from the exhaust. The M3 was quite modded up (brakes, suspension etc..) compared to mine so i was pleased i kept him at bay on the straight.

Saw him again this year May 09 at the Ring :poke: :driving: :driving: . The Z's game had moved on !!

Here's a clip of my last Ring trip in Oct 10 with few CSLs

Not sure how to embed the vid so here's the link

I think from memory all the rear insulation, seats & carpets were taken out...

There you go [youtube]nL_mmzrRtNo[/youtube]

You just write
Code:
[youtube]xxxxxxxxxx[/youtube]
where the X's is the video ID, the bit after "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" when you click on the "Share" button under a clip on youtube's website.

Nice video by the way.

9mins dead with that kind of traffic is ok... Was it Matt in the CSL in front? You leave a lot of speed on the table in a couple of places, but overall I massive improvement - you are beginning to look like you know where you are going now ;)

P.S. It would be interesting to see what times can I get with an E61 M5 in little traffic. I predict very low 8s...Roll on next year and my bravery/stupidity to buy an E61 M5 - need a sensible daily driver after all

Off topic but has anyone with gt5 been to the 'ring? I've put a fair few laps on it now (I love the 458!) but was curious to hear how it measures up...can't be a bad idea for learning the shape of the circuit in advance? Ps I now loath the top gear track with a passion.

Not been there with the GT5 yet - still learning the ropes with a RX7 :driving:

The Ring is pretty realistic on GT3 (PS2) and it is a good way to learn where the track goes but that is about it. If you have never driven it, nothing on TV/Youtube/Forums will ever prepare you for the gradient changes and the g-forces that you will experience in a properly driven car.

HTH,

Alex

It's part of the AMG academy, it's fairly terrifying in a competition spec SLS in front of a tv, fighting the wheel to stay on course... props to the pros who this for real! Ps got just over 9 mins in my lupo gti so it's never to early to go there!

Think the fastest I went in a Z4MC was around 8:18 BTG with little traffic. Car was totally standard, except the Carbopads Blue brake pads... The race 928 went quicker, but have no idea about actual times... The game was surprisingly realistic with regards to timing - on my PS2 I managed to get a 8:55 lap in a tuned Golf Mk2 GTI 16v. In real life I also managed a BANZAI lap of 8:58 in a Golf GTI 16v. The car never felt the same afterwards... :)

Yeah that was Matt - following someone that knows the track really helped me learn the lines. Made 5 trips this year with the above being the last one in Oct 10. Matt was running normal road tyres that day with a passenger on board so our pace was not comparable to some point - could have gone slightly faster :driving: .

Looking forward to seeing your E61 at the ring next year, am defo buying a yaris card this time.

BTW I believe congrats are in order too!!

I'm desparate to go back to the ring! Went in 2008 in the V6! Would love to have a go in the Z4.
