Is this cable supposed to be here or is it botched

Hi all,
So this is a picture of my rear brake disc offside. Should the white cable coming over the calliper be here. I don't remember this on my Coupe and its not on the other side.

Just looked at mine and I think it's the brake wear sensor. Possibly stands out more because it is white - replacement one?
I think mine is attached to a loop on the brake bleed nipple cover, to keep it tidy.
 
Looks like the brake pad wear sensor, which is only ever on one side of each axle. The wire should be going along/through the trailing arm and behind a panel on the wheel arch and into a little box with another sensor connection in there.

They should be on the NSF and OSR wheels.

The cable is only a tenner, if it isn't broken (read - worn through and the light is on ), there is no need to replace it

It looks correctly routed to me. Just white instead of black.
If it stands out too much for you then it's about 15 minute job to replace it.
Tbh, being white, I suspect it's not been on there very long anyway or it would be a lot grubbier. You'll be replacing a perfectly good sensor just for its colour?
 
Thanks buddy. I’ll leave as is then. I was spoiled with my Coupe. Nothing needed to be done. This one is going to need a little more attention. I must admit I’m looking forward to it but also slightly scared as I’m not used to doing this sort of stuff. Appreciate your pm my friend. Now to learn how to remove door cards as I have a rattle coming from the drivers door. 👍
 
Shouldn’t it be held in place under the bleeding nipple plug, though?
 
From a brake job done recently, original cable was black but oem part is now white. Original one was under the bleeding nipple from factory.

That's what I said at the beginning.
Wasn't aware OEM had changed to white now though.
