Is this a reasonable price for a bumper respray?

My E85 has a couple of deep scratches on the front bumper and have had this quote for its removal, spraying and refitting.

Labour: £715 plus vat

Paint materials: £450 plus vat

Badge: £40.12 plus vat

I've seen the 2012 thread on this but prices have moved on since then so does this sound about right?

I’ve just paid £900 for bonnet and bumper. There was a small dent in the bonnet and the bumper had been previously filled badly. They did a good job at that price and are a reputable outfit. So yes, that’s too high!

I was quoted around £450.00 about 2 years ago to have the front bumper removed, repaired, re sprayed and replaced. So yes it seems high to me. Shop around a bit.

My rear bumper cost £300 from a mobile painter, but I got quotes for £450 from bodyshops. With prices like that, it is easy to see why there are so many Cat N write-offs.

Just got another quote for £400, which seems much more reasonable. Unfortunately he also pointed out a number of dents and other blemishes that I hadn't spotted. Still, for a 2003 car I guess I should expect that. Now I just have to decide how much I am prepared to invest, or do I look at a younger car?

I paid about that (or the bloke who ran into it did) for a complete new bumper for a 3 series estate, including removal, prepping and painting the new one and fitting. And the car had sensors which make it more complex for the bodyshop. That was Summer 2024.

Bodyshops pay pennies for paint. And they don't use a lot with a gun.

Crazy crazy high!!!! Rule of thumb is £250 a body panel, £300 for a bonnet and around £350 for a bumper ( this would include the removal and refit cost ) .

Why look at another car? Few cars will be blemish free, better making yours right than chasing perfection elsewhere.

Alternatively have you looked for a used bumper in decent condition? There are a few people on here who break Z4s - you might even get lucky and find one the right colour!

Usually looking at around £500 for a front end repaint so definitely over priced , but as you say, maybe they are busy and didn't really want the job?
Make sure you post pictures of the finished results
