Is there any diff in sound between standard exhausts

I fancy making my z4 sound a bit sportier but keeping it standard equipment wise....

would say the exhaust from a 2.5si or 3.0si make my 2.5i any better sounding, and do they look any diff?

You could play around with the foam in the sound generator to get a sportier noise from your existing setup. Assuming the 2.5l has the sound generator - I'm not sure and I only know what I've read about this as my car doesn't have a SG. See here for info anyway:-

I'm fairly certain the exhausts are the same for 2.5 and 3.0 for the same year.

Doesn't have it, but could easily be retrofitted, and probably the best advice to gain some additional noise.

Pewrsonally I tried removing the foam from the soudn generator from my coupe and thought it sounded awful. Replaced it and then bought myself a gruppeM intake.

I realise the 2.5 and 3.0 will probs be the same exhaust wise but was wondering whether the Si's had a sportier exhaust.
