Is there a way to see real time fuel economy?

I've cycled through the computer displays on my Z4 and was surprised to see that there isn't a real time MPG, only cumulative. Is there a trick to it, or any way to display the fuel economy in real time?

Thanks
charlie

Don't think you can see this - I have tried myself and never found it.

My old Focus ST used to display real time MPG - however it was only really useful as a fun number to watch when out on a hoon, trying to see how low I could get it. Think I managed 3mpg under max acceleration with the turbo kicked in fully too

I've got one of those stupid fuel economy gauges in the E60... the needle spends most of its time either all the way over to the left (foot down) or right (foot off). It's only any good when the car's in cruise control on a motorway. Even then it doesn't correspond with the computer. But, as Bing said - its quite fun watching the needle try to go past the bump stop when you're pedal to the floor, on a private road / track / autobahn.

If you hold down the trip computer button it will reset and start the average from that point. Hope that helps.

Try Google. Write BMW obc hidden menu. Here's a link:

It's for E46 but you should be fine. Just follow the instructions :).

BMW were always an advocate of the real time mpg needle rather than digital display in the past. I had this in my E24, E36 and now E46 but not the E86 .. odd but hopefully the hidden menu can help you!
