The difference is more than just about power. The 3.0 comes with 6 gears, auto lights and wipers, electric seats, silver inner headlights and silver grill.

My 2003 2.5 SMG has all those (apart from ugly silver grille and silver jappo headlights) :fuelfire: plus satnav, park assist, heated seats, dream red Oregon leather, Carver stereo, bluetooth, cup holders, luggage nets, interior mood lighting, cruise control', yawn, yawn, must I go on... oh, and less than 20K miles.

No, please go on. I'm sure we'd love to hear how great your car is some more (yawn)

Yours is a clearly a well specced by the original buyer 2.5, but the things I mentioned are not standard on the 2.5 and are on the 3.0. The OP wanted advice on the difference between the 2.5 and the 3.0.....not your 2.5 and the 3.0

NFS missed the point, I think. I doubt the majority of Z4's out there are with totally standard spec, regardless of engine size, and more importantly, the price for a high spec used model is not significantly different from a standard spec car, (I'm glad you think my car is great, the information about it was merely factual, if not typical). The fact is, be patient, and shop around, and you can get a nice spec Z4 with low miles with your choice of engine. :D

Thanks to everyone for their feedback and preferences I will go in search this weekend for a 3 litre with the best mileage / spec that I can find.
