Is the Z4 supposed to have an automatic trunk?

Hello, just got my 2008 Z4 and it seems odd to me that the trunk button either in the car or on the keyfob only "unlocks" the trunk, and that it actually doesn't pop up by itself.

I cannot find any reference anywhere whether is DOES or DOES NOT have a power lifting trunk lid, so I don't know if I have something to fix or not.

Any help appreciated. Thank You!
 
Nope, it just pops the trunk/boot...it doesn't open it full for you as it would with a powered-lift trunk/boot.
 
When the Z4 was designed the only BMW with a hydraulic tailgate was the E39 Touring. Mainstream powered boots were a few years away.
 
Mine used to pop up half an inch or so. now it doesnt do that anymore :( I noticed there are some springs in there for the initial lift, but i am unsure where i can find them. i will send a picture of it later
