A straight 6 doesn't make a great sport car. As long as its a 6 or bigger, V8 would be nicer. E89 coupe with the M3 V8 would be awesome.
As for an auto with a quad exhaust system every high end sports car is an auto with a quad so not really sure what that comment means...

My opinion was that the standard 3.0 coupe would not be a future classic, instead the M coupe would be - no bate there?

I merely asked if there was a car being built with the same configuration as the Z4 coupe if it;s ////M or other wise.
If you are trying to bait coupe drivers then at least get your facts straight as to what the thread is about

I own neither now so am in the position to say it's unlikely either will be a true classic unless it has an M engine. Even then i think it will be the fact that it's manual and naturally aspirated that will make it desirable.
I'm pretty sure the majority of the merc engines will be turbo'd. The reason for doing so is because the straight configuration is capable of higher output with lower emissions. Nearly all cars will be blown soon as I believe the emissions rating allow for manufacturers to run them off turbo for rating so it lets them get lower tax ratings with more power. I believe, don't quote me on this.

Lol handbags are out this afternoon :grin: I find it all very clear. I think this a lot also. Not classic status but something that isn't being done often any more and can't see the sense if doing in in the future, unfortunately.
I also love the NA 3.0, its noise, smoothness and power delivery. Marques are leaning more towards lawn mower engines with turbos strapped on with muted exhaust notes which just all sound generic to me, just look at f1!
