Is the coupe worth more than the roadster?

As already said, about10-15% extra for the coupé.

Not sure why, the coupe seems to be the coveted marque, all magazine articles are about the coupe etc. for me, even with the draw of topless motoring, the Z4 just looks too awkward with the ragtop, the coupe is a thing of beauty. If I'd have gone Z4MR I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten bored and sold it on by now. Don't shoot me, just my 2p. :driving:
Agree the Coupe seems to be the one that gets appreciated the most regards magazine articles and its far sexier looking too  the flexibility of the Roadster is very appealing though and you do get to enjoy the engine noise far more but I wasn't very keen on the fabric roof on the Roadster.

I have said before that I don't think there is much middle ground and I think you are either a Coupe man/women or a Roadster man/women and its as simple as that...I dabbled with a Roadster and it wasn't for me, so the Coupe is my preference.

That's obviously a controversial opinion Mr Wilks. The coupe z4 is rarer (fact) and is a better drive due to being stiffer ( only slightly controversial)

With roughly 600 ///M roadster and and the same for ///M Coupes your first point is null and void :P

Basedon the fact this is posted in ///M specific

Here's a question though - if you could afford to buy and run both, would you ?

I'm with LeeZ4MR, I think people are pretty much polarised in their preference. But maybe I'd keep a coupé in the garage over summer sitting on a trickle charger and winter tyres :D

Very good question Bing. If I could afford to run a coupe, along side the Roadie. Then it would probably be a Cayman I'd go for Coupes are about performance and precision. Roadies are about fun :D

Yeah, I did think "what's the point of two Z4s" actually. I'd be tempted to look at a Cayman as well. But it would have to be the newest one, which would be too expensive assuming the limit was the same cost as a Z4 coupé. So then we're back to the age old "what else could you get that's as good for the money" question.

Bit of a pointless segue, but wondered if anyone had an interesting answer like yours :D

Having owned both myself in M form I would go for the coupe..

The % in price will differ more greatly within a few months... Roady prices are seasonal, coupe prices aren't, they tend to stay similar all year round..

Both cars are great to drive, just the coupe looks better from every angle..

The roady just looks like any other Z4 unless your in the know..

I love them both if im honest. Both are rare and special.... heres my controversal piece however. The rosdster recieved far better press admiration widely on arrival between some top draw competitors, evo mag rated it 5 star over the tuscan and boxster. Plato loved it and called it a modern cobra , hammond rated it over the boxster, yet most reviews of the coupe left Alot wanting, maybe much more was expected from the more hardcore setup so the dissapointment was bigger. Either way i love both, but to my eyes the roadster roof down , looks much better , a proper roadster and the essence of motoring. # excuse mistskes curr3ntly sunning myself in greece so on my uber slow tab.

I do think if I had the money I wouldn't mind running both because I really love the looks of the Coupe but I totally get why so many love the roof down experience too as it adds an extra dimension to the driving experience.

If you want both get a 35iS - A lot of folk are genuinely surprised to see the roof come down

Thanks for the input people, I am looking at future values as well as current.
I'm probably more confused now than I ever was....

This is the key for me. If you want something that looks rare then the coupe really ticks that box (3.0 and M), and that's why it is so desirable with prices reflecting that. Even as an owner of a Z4MC I can only genuinely remember seeing 1 Z4MR in my 4 years of ownership, but how many have a I missed as I've thought they're just a regular Z4? For me the looks of the MC are quirky and different; even in London where there are so many more expensive/faster cars I regularly see people turning their heads as they walk past it, that kind of reaffirms that it's a special/unusual thing.

No argument though that on a nice day or warm night dropping the roof on a Z4MR (and hearing more of that noise) is very nice thing to do

Good decision...

Great car...

Also look and drive an E89 and compare the two..

One might suit you more than the other..

Not sure I'd get an E89 as an investment

Ah true...

No guarantee that an M car is gonna appreciate though..
Indeed.

But i'm fairly confident it will hold a lot more value than any E89 after a couple of years ;).

Horses for courses - I don't buy cars to make money

I generally lose shed loads - but at least i'm enjoying it

I'm not a fan of ragtops due to the look (& I'm scared of having my roof slashed)
If it was a hardtop like the E89 I'd be a fan and be willing to sacrifice some chassis rigidity.
The roadster looks better with the top down but as it has been discussed, looks similar to a 'normal' Z4 while the coupe (M/si) looks rare/exotic.
I'm constantly asked by strangers: WTF is that?
