Is the C35iS cigarette lighter live, please?

Is the cigarette lighter on the C35iS live when the ignition is off, please?

I ask because, on cars where it is, I use it to charge the battery with a CTEK and as a charge point for an INFORAD speed camera 'detector'.

Thinking of buying a Z4? ... very sensible! If you can wait till tomorrow I'll check on mine and let you know!

Fairly sure it's not, definitely used to be in the e85 but to charge my phone when I'm on the ferry I have to turn the ignition on. (e89 35is)

Hope that helps

Just checked the handbook and they say not to use the lighter socket so presumably it's not live. Maybe it's OK to connect the C-Tek directly to the battery terminals? ... anyone?

Discovered now that using the jump start terminals under the bonnet is the recommended procedure ... connect the C-Tek clamps to the terminals under the red and black plastic caps then lead the wire out somewhere it won't get squished! ... I'll check it out in the morning!

Thank you all.

Am going to post a new thread now to ask what kind of connections/arrangements - perhaps semi-permanent - people have made for their CTEKs.

Search for CTEK comfort connector, I've had this connected to my TT for the last 6 years and it's what I intend using when I find a Z. The eyelets screw onto the terminals and you can then feed the lead through somewhere discreet into the boot, where you can then connect the push fit connector of the CTEK as and when required. Cost around £5-£6. http://www.ctek.com/gb/en/accessories/ They come in M6, M8 & M10 eyelet sizes to suit differing sizes of terminal screw. They even do them now with charging indicators on the actual connector and they also do a panel mounting if you're feeling brave and want a neater fit!
