Is the ash going to ruin our paint?

Anyone else thought that it might be a huge government conspiracy theory to hide from terrorist threats?

Maybe just my suspicious mind but it seems funny that only a few weeks ago there was reports on the news of an impending terrorist action against planes in the uk, I think they described it as serious as it could be then funnily enough it wasn’t mentioned again.

Next thing I know, all air ports have been shut down, no air traffic at all over uk skies, all stopped by this cloud that no one can see or do anything about due to it being a natural occurrence.

What makes it even stranger is the reports of independent test flights going up and saying its all clear yet passenger planes remain grounded, also a volcanic eruption of the scale to bring an entire countries air network to a halt must have been some sight, has anyone seen any pictures/video or even mention of this eruption.

Maybe its my overactive imagination, maybe there are going to be men in black suits waiting for me when I get home but it does make you think?

Had not thought of this angle. Suspect this is doing more harm than most terrorist attacks. But yes, a little evidence would be nice to make up for the disruption.

There's only one thing for it... someone around here owns a plane, to you I say, get the hell up there and collection some data! Take one for the team. Take some pictures too, we like pictures :thumbsup:

They have shown footage of a volcano erupting though havent they?!

If it as Robb suspects.... the terrorists have effectly won then havent they?

just watched a vid of it and it seems pretty huge, i was shocked at how so many airports have been shut down.

has there been anything like this in the past with other volcanos?

Hi a11y,

I'm stuck in Jakarta at my own expense having finished my contract job 7 days ago, Emirates told me when I turned up for my JKT-DBI-GLA flight on the 17th that the flight was cancelled and the earliest they could book me home was the 29th, and that's a maybe!, "oh dear" I muttered darkly under my breath. No accommodation or expenses would be offered!, "dash" I thought.

My own stupid fault of course!, to have not foreseen the obvious, volcanic ash taking out European airspace!!!!!, I mean JFC !!!!!!!

On the plus side I love Jakarta, its totally bananas, dirty, smelly and the traffic/driving has to be seen, this is the first place I've been to that I choose not to drive, all that aside the people are charming and there's lots to do, so not too bad!. Thoughts here to those who are having really serious problems with this situation.

Don't start me on Ffing rice!. :headbang:

Good theory, but we aren't flying either! Fighter jets ain't scared of no terrorist 8)
