Is Renovo 'paint' really any good?

Hi all, I am still toying with the idea of using this on my roof, but I am sure I read a thread on here recently that said it made the fibres brittle , is this the norm?-cheers

I used it and used it as per the instructions and it made the roof look a bit funky.

I used the autoglym one previously and it was much better.

I'm probably telling you nothing you don't know but I'd clean the roof with baby shampoo and allow to dry overnight before applying the product. Rope the Mrs in to do half the roof while you do the other half otherwise you'll end up with a line down the middle of the hood.

I have only ever used the BMW stuff and Autoglym. Both very good, but the AG makes my roof bead which is very cool... Though in heavy rain it still soaks through, so it's not gummed up the fibres.

If you use the AG stuff make sure you cover the paintwork and glass as it's a bitch to clean off once it dries. Be better if you could paint it on rather than spray... Which I guess you could if you wanted to.

You mean for reconditioning / recolouring ? Ok, no knowledge of that. I think RaggTop do something similar - seem to remember seeing good reviews of that product ?

Otherwise just do a Jonny Essex and spend a grand on a new roof :P

Used it on mine, it recoloured well with no lines etc (do the painting under cover on a mild day so it doesn't dry too quick). It does make the fibres stiffer at first, but that goes after a couple of washes.

Nosa used Renovo and it made the roof look like new. I've got the rest of the bottle, but haven't used yet....

Be careful with a part bottle, Adam. You do need nearly a full bottle to do the roof properly, and running out part way through would be a pain :)

Cheers Mark. Haven't touched the bottle since I got it. Will get another bottle before starting

I've got a bottle but been too chicken to try it. Another thing to do in the Spring...

I was very happy with the results when I done mine last year

This was during

And this was after

No before pictures but it did cover up some of the white marks pretty well.

How long does it take for the folding marks to re appear ?

When I used ag it didn't hide them at all.

The AG only protects and will not hide them where as the renovo do a paint which will re colour your roof. Mine still looking good and I use the roof a lot

No white marks have reappeared on mine since colouring earlier this year. However I do need to redo it as there's a couple of small marks that happened when the roof motor was replaced. Only small marks, but bugged me. Won't be doing it until spring though, as the hard top's on now for winter :D

This was mine, half way through (pots on the unpainted side) - you can just make out the fading on the unpainted side.

When I gave my roof the Autoglym treatment last month the hardest feckin' bit was getting those plastic dust sheets in the right place

At the risk of starting a 'my waterproofing solution is better' type thread, I use the gtechniq for waterproofing afterwards
