Is my steptronic backwards, or is that normal?

To shift back a gear, eg. 3rd to 2nd, I have to push the paddle... Shouldn't it be a pull to come back a gear?

Its messing with my head, as I'm used to it the other way around from playing car games on the computer (with steering wheel & shift paddles)

Damn. I was hoping that it was a changeable thing......

I keep pressing it the wrong way and send the revs through the roof when I mean to change the other way
Fortunately its stupid proof and won't let me do anything damaging

I gave up on the games a while back, but its still ingrained in my reflexes.

Just remember to push forward to down shift. Once you get the hang of it is great. At are age not sure I woulld want a stick shift.

Perfectly normal however on the steptronic (selector lever only) BMW did change the convention in around 2002 from push to pull and vice versa, for up and down changes, which confused the hell out of many people. I had a Zed and X5 that worked opposite ways so had to change one so they matched

I'm not advotating you make the change but it's real easy to switch the function if you wish to and I can provide guidence, but suggest you get used to the way it is corectly set
